Software and firmware

SmartESP is a useful utility for a simple way to initialize and upload firmware to the ESP8266 chip.

Before running SmartESP you must set up a driver to connect the chip on the Windows COM port. For WeMos D1 mini it's usually CH340 or CP2104.
